I was approached to create a new ramune drink. Ramune is a Japanese carbonated soft drink.
The idea they had provided me was a Mythical Goddess Okami Amaterasu soda.
Amaterasu is the great and glorious goddess of the sun. An embodiment of the rising sun and Japan itself, she is the queen of the kami and ruler of the universe. The Japanese Imperial Family claims to have descended from her, and this is what gives them the divine right to rule Japan. She is the center of Shinto, and Japanese spiritual life.
With this, I looked for a simple Japanese style of soda/ramune for inspiration and to find out what is the normal design but they all where happy and childish. Picking one that i would use as a good reference to size I started with the label on the bottle.
The difference in the two labels above are that the orange is a clear plastic to show the satsuma mandarin flavor drink inside. The satsuma mandarin (tangerine) is grown near Ōasahiko-no-Okami Sarutahiko-no-Okami which is the location of Okami Amaterasu's shrine.
Next I started on the die line for packaging of a four pack, then I put it on the actual packaging box.
Putting all of the packaging together the 3D render was next so an advertisement could be made.
It was decided to start get word out and by means of a magazine advertisement.
